2011 Focus SES rear drums
I just did my brakes all around on my 2011 Focus and everything turn out great, brand new hardware all around. My only issue is the rear drum bearings hum/whine especially at freeway speed. I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for a set drums that have a quieter bearing.
did you torque the lug nut to spec? Is it the type that stake in place?
was the noise present before the work was done?
does the growling noise change when swaying the vehicle to load and unload the bearing?
Do the tires have irrregular treadwear?

I'm doing rear brakes on my 2010 Focus now. Everything I've read says those spindle nuts are one use only and should be replaced with new ones if they've been torqued to spec and then removed. They're cheap to replace, I got mine from RockAuto. BTW... Torque spec is 174 ft.lbs on those spindle nuts.
UPDATE: (9/5/24) It turns out the two spindle nuts I got from ROCKAUTO were CRAP! The threads of one were squashed into an oval shape with a .090 diameter difference and weren't tapped through all the way, and the 2nd nut was also not tapped through all the way. No way they'd go more than 2-3 turns onto the spindle before binding up. Both were Dorman 615-004-1 branded, but one was made in Mexico and the other in China. I had to buy an M20-1.5 tap and die set to clean up the threads in both nuts and chase the threads on the spindle to make sure they were good. If I wasn't a Tool and Die maker for 35 years I would never have thought to check the threads and probably just forced them on thinking that's the way they're supposed to go on. Beware!
