Default Don't Stop - engine fan issue

2005 Focus 2.0 Ghia (VIN = WF05XXWPD55U29569, variant = AODA15, version = EURO45FGB MJ if that helps).
Radiator fan runs constantly, even when car is switched off, engine cold. I have disconnected it to stop it draining the battery.
I have the fusebox shown in the diagram and picture, not precisely the same as the diagram as there is only one relay for the fan (marked with the red X) which I removed. It didn't make any difference, when I reconnected the fan it still ran, so that relay isn't affecting the fan control, so I replaced the relay.
What else is making the fan run constantly ? Car turned off, totally cold so can't be affected by a thermostat, water level correct, only one fan relay that isn't having any effect - I am baffled !! Anyone had the same problem or got any ideas what has gone wrong somewhere ? Please.......?

If a sensor is faulty , it could be providing false info to the PCM.
If the sensors check out OK, a PCM may be on the horizon.

Hi Hanky, which sensors should be checked, and where are they ?

Generally ,there are 2 sensors.
One to the PCM which controls the circuit for the fan motor and the other to tell the gauge or light on the dash the temp.

All vehicles are not the same and a wiring diagram is often necessary to verify where they are
Suggest you have a good shop with some electrical background and info to troubleshoot the system.

Your car should have 2 fans and 3 relays.

Thank you Heiko. But, your information is not for the same version of the Focus. My car has the fusebox with the relays as the photograph. Also, the engine layout does not appear to be the same.

Only have US-Spec, don't have Euro-Spec. Check the wire color on the relays they should be the same.

Ford fans are typically powered all the time when ever ign is on.

The PCM normally provides the ground to operate the fan motors.

Which does your vehicle have, one or two fan motors ?

If one,, a sensor tells the PCM cooling required, and the PCM will provide the ground thru a relay.
If something is keeping the relay activated, that means a wire to the relay from the PCM is shorted to ground.
Now that we know that, we need to check the wire from the PCM to the relay for a possibly bare/chafed condition where that wire is contacting an unintended ground.
