Default 2012 Ford Focus Windshield wiper adjustment

My windshield wipers do not go all the way to the edge of the windshield when they are on... in fact, it doesn't really come close to doing all of the windshield. The arms go to around 1 o'clock or so leaving about 9" or so of windshield uncleaned - and much of that is in my field of view as a driver. Is there a way to adjust them so they travel more before returning to the middle?

The wiper arm has a cup on the end that is serrated internally. Those serrations match up with the driver that moves the wiper arm. Below that cup on the arm, usually you will find a locking lever that you pull away from the cup and now you can lift the arm off the driver ****. You can reinstall the arm a little higher on the driver **** and see if that makes it better. Once you know how to do this you can position the wiper arm to the best location for you. Don't forget to press the wiper arm all the way down on to the driver and return the locking lever to keep the wiper arm locked on the driver.

...but if I move the arm so that the wiper travels further over the windshield, won't that effect the position the wiper arm returns to at the bottom of the windshield? In other words, will it cause the wiper not to go all the way down?

Yes, that is true. As far as I can say, you may have to choose a happy medium since the stroke is built in to the wiper system. You might check with a Ford dealer service dept and they may have had other complaints about this problem and could have a better solution.
