Focus died on me
Good day all! New here, and relative noob with cars in general, but local ford service isn't getting back to me so I figured I'd try here, see if anyone has theories, as I'm avoiding taking it to the dealership if possible.
Yesterday was particularly cold(-35c), had to get up early and warm up the 2010 Focus a bit as it wasn't plugged in. Through the day noticed the stereo would not turn on. The display just showed "Ford Focus" and the temp/compass, as it always does when the stereo is off, but none of the buttons responded(power, source, etc.). Everything else was fine, ran fine, heating was good, so I went about my day to sort later. Today it's dead.
No power locks, no trunk release, nothing. When I try to start it the airbag light comes on but NOTHING else, no attempt to start, notta.
Any theories on where to start? Wouldn't think the battery would die in a day, checked the fuses they seem intact. Waiting until the service department opens Monday, so might as well look into it in the mean time!

Hi Ben,
Cold weather puts a heavy drain on battery output and before you go chasing a possible wild goose, make sure the battery is capable of holding a charge. You can't check anything else until sufficient power is available from the battery. If the battery is original , there is a good chance it may be time to replace it.If you have good power available from the battery, the next things to check are the cable connections , both ends. Looking at them does nothing. They should be removed and cleaned. After that, if the battery and connections are good you can move on to other areas.
If the vehicle has a security system , what is the security light doing when you attempt to start the vehicle?
