Default Ford Focus 2007 aftermarket and common problems

What's the aftermarket for this like? I see a lot of them on the road, so I would guess there would be plenty of ones in the scrapyard as well.

Also, the 1A-auto video mentioned common problems being the fuel pump, alternator, and mounts. Is this accurate?

I checked out one, it was a complete mess. Suspension creaked, the steering wheel was difficult to turn, and the brakes were soft and the brake fluid was low. Is this par for the course? Or was this just a really bad example? (I'm thinking the latter)

Does anything rust out easily? I'm in the northeast, so this is a big concern.

Also, how difficult is this thing to wrench on? The engine bay seemed a bit tight.

Also, what's the engine name? I assume there are federal and california emissions versions, but are there are other than the 2.0, 2.3, and 2.5? I'm only going to be looking at 2.0's.

Would like to provide a more definite reply, but so very much depends on how well the vehicle was maintained.

A lot of folks don't think about routine maintenance until something goes wrong.

I don't know of anyone that sold or junked a well maintained, dependable vehicle. There usually was a good reason.

Of course, I was hoping there might have been some engine nerds on the forum, but I guess the Focus isn't as attractive as a car as say the Mustang. So, it's engine isn't going to get that much attention.

From what I have seen, there is decent aftermarket support for the 05-07 focus, but it seems theres a bit more for the 04 and older focus. For example, for the 04 and older, aftermarket headlamps have like 3-6 different options where as the 05-07 seem to only have like 1-2 different aftermarket headlamps. Fswerks has a lot of aftermarket stuff for this vehicle altogether.

When specifically talking about the 05-07 focus, you are only going to get the 2.0L or the 2.3L MZR/Duratec engines. The older ones will either have the duratec or the zetec engines.

As for the altinator, I don't really know how long they tend to last, as my focus only has 120k miles on it, and I just replaced the one that I am 99% sure came from the factory. It is a pain to replace though, as you have to take out one of the motor mounts to do it, but if a video says you have to take out the studs as well, you don't so that might help to save a little bit of time. Not sure about the other issues as I have never encountered them.

I know I probably shared more info than needed, but hope this helped out a bit. If anything is off, let me know!
