Default Help Error on Dash

So today when I tried to turn on my car it wouldn’t start it just gave me a text on the dash saying “ engine malfunction service now”. So being that it was negative 50 over here yesterday I figured the battery was dead cause on top of the message I could hear a ticking noise. So I jumpstarted the car and got it to turn on sounded a little louder than usual again probably due to the cold. Ran the car about two blocks kinda of felt off sluggish. Came back home turned it off for about ten minutes came back to turn it on and it said battery low check manual don’t recall if I heard the ticking or not. The engine malfunction appeared but at the end when I was removing key. Could it just be my battery or do you guys think it’s something more serious. Thanks in advance.

It always helps if we knew what year and model vehicle you have..
When it is that cold only a good battery MAY work well enough to get it started.
The battery could be good , but we don't know about the cables and connections, all that is very important.
Some things need to be reprogrammed when a defective battery is replaced and with a display panel in your vehicle, it is a good possibility.
Hopefully the temp will go up enough to allow you to get the battery replaced and do what is necessary to make it a reliable vehicle again.
