Ford FocusThis compact luxury sedan and hatchback has become popuar among sport compact tuners due to its small size, and available performance parts, as well as the availability of the SVT model
I am looking for help on how to wire this trunk release switch on my Ford Focus 2008. This generation of Ford Focus didn't have a switch. I bought it old, and it doesn't have a FOB key. Will greatly appreciate your help.
Where do you want this switch to be located?
How good are you at electrical work?
Honestly the easiest thing would be to just buy and program a key fob with a trunk release button.
Here is the directions ford has for a key fob, your local dealer should be able to get you a key fob, I think this is a general ford remote, it is not built into the key. Let me know if you still want to screw with the electrical system, any future keyfobs will not open the trunk if you do what I tell you to install a switch though.
NOTE: A maximum of 4 Remote Keyless Entry (RKE) transmitters can be programmed to the vehicle. Programming must be done at the same time for all the RKE transmitters.
NOTE: Programming (or reprogramming) of the RKE transmitters can be accomplished using a scan tool or by carrying out the following steps.
Electronically unlock the door locks using the door lock control switch.
Turn the ignition switch from the OFF to the RUN position 8 times in rapid succession (within 10 seconds), with the eighth turn ending in RUN. If the module successfully enters program mode, it locks and then unlocks all the doors.
NOTE: If no action is taken within 20 seconds after a transmitter has been programmed, the programming sequence ends (the doors lock and unlock to confirm that programming is complete).
Within 20 seconds, press any button on the RKE transmitter to be programmed. The doors lock and then unlock to confirm that each RKE transmitter is programmed. Repeat this step for each RKE transmitter.
Exiting the programming mode is accomplished if one of the following occurs:
The key transitions to the OFF position.
20 seconds have passed since entering programming mode or since the last RKE transmitter was programmed.
The maximum number (4) of RKE transmitters have been programmed.
Check the operation of the transmitter. If the door locks do not respond for the programmed RKE transmitter(s), wait several seconds and press the button again. If the door locks still fail to respond, refer to Handles, Locks, Latches and Entry Systems in this section. (Make sure that no more than the maximum number (4) of RKE transmitters are attempted to be programmed.
