Default Trunk Ajar

I recently purchased a 2006 Ford Fusion SE. I noticed my dome light was staying on when I shut it off and I realized it was displaying trunk ajar. I have sprayed lithium grease into the latch pieces with no change. I did some digging and found that the Trunk Open Warning Switch could be bad, so I purchased a new one. However, now I have no idea where this switch goes. There is no switch on the bottom part of the latch, and the only wiring going to the top part appears to be going to the solenoid that opens the trunk electronically. After taking all of the carpet off of the trunk lid, I did find a wiring harness in there that wasn't plugged into anything except a retainer plug to hold it in place. This harness fits this new switch, but I can't figure out how it is supposed to mount. I haven't found anything on the car that looks like the switch I purchased, but every site that sells them shows this is the one for my car. I have looked all around the trunk lid for anything that looks like the switch or has a plunger that depresses when the trunk lid is shut, but I have found nothing. I have read some suggestions that it is actually inside the latch assembly, but I don't think it would fit, and the latch assembly doesn't look like it is made to come apart. Does anyone have any idea where the trunk open warning switch goes on a 2006 Ford Fusion SE? I have attached a picture of the switch I bought. Other cars appear to have it right next to the latch, but I can't see a way to mount it on mine.

Welcome to the site..

The entry doors the ajar switch is part of the actuator,, that switch is part of the rear door lock set
