1991 F350 4x4 Power steering works fine to the left but not to the right.
For some reason the power steering in my truck works normally when I steer to the left but does not work to the right. I’m wondering if anyone has experience this or has an idea what it mite be. Thanks in advance.
This goes back a bit, but I seem to remember there are nylon sealing rings in the spool valve assy on top of the steering box. The sealing ring for that direction is either worn or broken. You might do better if you were to get a used steering box from a salvage yard. What you might try is to check with a Ford Parts Dept and see what steering boxes fit your vehicle. They didn't change that much among years and you might be able to use one from a much newer truck. I don't know if those sealing rings are available anymore.
You might also check around some auto supply stores (NAPA) and get hold of a rebuilt steering box.

Before you start that project, let us know and we should be able to offer some suggestions so you can do the job as easily and quick as possible.
Things like where to disconnect some linkage, what tools you should have /use , Keeping steering wheel in one position so clockspring doesn't get destroyed , etc..
