1995 F350 5.8 won’t pull
Hello the truck has pulled in the past and has a history of overheating. None of these are currently a problem.
The battery , hoses, radiator, spark plugs and wires have been replaced
I can drive this truck on a daily with no issues just the following quarks
when pushing it on the highway 70+ the ac stops working I can here the vacuum suck in.
when going up long hills I sometimes struggle to maintain speed.
when towing a small trailer 500-1000lb hills are 40mph max
before this problem was evident I planned on hauling horses so with a 7000lb trailer I made it a mile and a half down the road before I turned back - no power to pull.
I have had it to three mechanics who all know each other. The general consensus is that “ this old truck is not meant to haul this big trailer, you would be better off buying a new one”
When I questioned them “ the towing capacity is 12,000 pounds? “
I was corrected and told “that includes the weight of the truck so 12- 5 for the truck no wonder it won’t pull . “
please help I’m waiting on a tool to check back pressure of the exhaust system.
What’s next? Or is this truck truly not built to haul because it has a gas engine not the diesel?

Can you bring us up to date on what other work , if any, was done ?
High fuel demand, which takes place at high speed and load places a lot on the fuel supply. Were any kind of tests done to verify there is no fuel problem ?
