98 expedition 5.4 oil cooler
I have a 98 expedition Eddie Bauer, 5.4 triton, 4x4. I’m having to change the oil filter adapter gasket. I’m halfway done and I’m stuck. My oil filter is right in front of the driver side front tire. My oil cooler is bolted onto the adapter gasket housing. I can’t get a socket into the oil cooler bolt because it’s about an inch and a half from the frame. What can I do at this point? I can’t just leave it on and take the housing off because the cooler sits too close to the housing bolts. I can’t just use a wrench because it’s a hex bit. Someone let me know if they’ve worked on something like mine and what you did to get it off

It might help if you were aware there are 12 and 16 point box wrenches to make access easier. Some are offset also.
The recessed head bolts are called
"Allen head" bolts and there are"L" shaped Allen wrenches to handle that, only problem you may have to purchase a set unless the place sells the wrenches separately.
They do sell Allen head sockets and if you have the room ,you may be able to use a socket.
Most auto supply stores carry the tools you might require.. Trying to purchase on line can be a crap shoot unless you purchase a set and be careful there , some are METRIC sizes.
