Direct Fuel Injection (GDI) Failure
is anyone else having serious issues with the early Direct fuel injection (GDI) system with the eco boost? I have reoccurring fuel rail fault codes P0087 & P219A and the high pressure pump is grinding down the cam creating dangerous driving conditions which require $3600 worth of repairs. The first time it happened at 29,000 miles it was covered by warranty, now it happened again at 54,000 miles. My warranty expired while in statewide lockdown, so Ford denied assistance with this systemic problem. The GDI system was rushed to market to meet the MPG mandates issued by Congress and never tested for safety. Multi-port fuel injection is much more reliable. I have filed a complaint with NHTSA. FORD MOTOR COMPANY CASE # CAS27469187
What year is your engine, I have not seen any where the cam shaft lobe was down.
You may be able to buy extended warranty and then make a claim of the issue, depends on the dealer if they will sign off on this since the technical has to mark the power train as having no faults and that paperwork gets filed with Ford Copr.
