So, serpentine belt broke. Went to replace. There is no idler pulley or SAI pulleys. I didn't know they had been removed and belt was rerouted. Normal size belt for vehicle doesn't fit. Went to replace pulleys. Can't find a dang idler pulley bolt to save my life. I guess my questions are 1. Why would someone remove the pulleys and reroute the belt in the first place? 2. Should I bother putting it back to normal? 3. What size belt do I need if answer is No to question 2?

 

My guess is someone may have eliminated the smog pump.You should be able to determine routing from looking at the pulley surface.Smooth means the back of the belt and grooved means front of the belt. You could take your old belt to the parts store for sizing. If you want to go back to original, you will probably need a manual or look at the belt route decal somewhere near the core support.
