Default Truck shuts off--

Going Crazy!!!!! Got a 1986 F-150, 4.9 ----- I'm riding along, usually 30 min into the ride the engine will start sputtering, and shut off. Pull over wherever I can- turn key- starts right up , seems to go through fuel in the bowl and shuts off again.I can repeat this for any number of times and then after 10 to 15 min pass it starts again and I"m good for the next hour, and sometimes up to 2 days- then it strikes again.. I've rebuilt the carb, changed the filter, new fuel pump, new electronic module, put a clear secondary filter in-line( no water in gas) WHAT CAN IT BE? ANYONE WHO COULD HELP- PLEASE? THANK YOU!

Default RE: Truck shuts off--

Could be several things , the pickup module in the dist is bad ,,,, the module on the firewall most likey-- there only like $15.00 these days, also on the dist there 3 wires one is black its the ground - I have seen these break at the plug in .. also on the module on the fenderwell the insulation on the wires shrink causing the wires to short out ,,, ,, also the 3 plugs on the module will get a bad connection. just clean them off with some brake clean an put some elec grease on them. an finally you might have something in the fuel tank getting sucked up on the pick up tube
