Default Worth repair or sell junkyard??

Hi

Got 06 F150 3 valve timing chain broke
not sure about transmission good or not
think the 4 wheel drive is not working as well

Is it worth getting a used motor put in and hope
transmission works or just sell junkyard?
motor and install quoted $3,100

Got the truck from stepbrother didnt pay for it
but not sure worth try fix up or sell junkyard

I’m a 40 yr old woman only use for when need haul
items and such
my daily driver is a 2022 sedan
I know nothing bout fixing vehicles

thanks

You might consider selling the vehicle "As is' to someone that would want to repair it.
You could get more than a junkyard would charge to take it away..

I do want a cheap truck that runs to do errands can’t do with car
Asking if would be worth it or sell and find something used but running but also more money

Is there a way to check if transmission works when
Truck not running ?

I know vehicles are expensive now even used

thanks

You could always pull the trans dipstick , if it has one, and smell the fluid to determine if it smells burned

If it does smell burned, walk away and look for another vehicle.

Be careful of a deal you can't refuse , most times there is a reason !!

Not too many folks get rid of a good running vehicle with no problems.

There are loads of them out there that either have a problem that was too expensive to repair or the cause could not be easily determined.
If possible ask a shop or experienced friend to go with you to check a vehicle before considering purchase.
Remind them to look at the underside of the vehicle for extensive rust which could be expensive to repair.
Vehicles that were driven in the salt belt or floods should be very carefully checked out.

sell it to someone who wants to use it as a project vehicle. Then buy yourself a new baby
