2004 A/C issues

Default 2004 A/C issues

so I've had a history of plagued electrical issues with this 04 4.2 freestar. the issue today is p0532 code. took it to a garage and they said it was the low pressure compressor switch and so they evacuated the 134a from the system, replaced the switch and then they said it couldnt be charged or wouldnt take a charge. they said the compressor clutch would not engage at all. checked the fuse, replaced the a/c clutch relay. can put your hand on the relay and feel it click when turned on or off. at the A/C clutch plug I show +12v on the red wire. is the ground wire at the clutch on a ground switch from the pcm? tried to find a wiring diagram for this with no luck. it does have front and rear a/c controls if that matters. compressor is about 6 months old with new clutch, not saying it couldnt be the issue but being this new i'm leaning towards no. any ideas? have a wiring diagram? troubleshooting chart? handgrenade? van itself only has 108,000 miles on it.

Welcome to the site.

PCM controls the ‘switched’ or ground leg (coil side) of the A/C clutch relay to close the relays contacts and flow current. If/when the clutch relay closes you should have voltage present at the A/C clutch field coil connector.
Should be PK/LB (color and tracer) at the comp connector (Red?) Ground is BK and should be present consistently. Ground terminates on the core support left topside.

The low pressure/cycling switch is controlled by the PCM (grounding) as well, and you should have voltage present there on VT/OG wire/pin
If No, check fuse 14-5amp in the SJB..

well, turns out that cycling switch brand new was junk. also found out that the ground coming from the a/c clutch, the wire was actually broken in half under the loom behind the water pump area. cleaned all the ground locations, and tada compressor running again. Thanks all though for reading and thanks for the input. fixing something ya can't see or touch is always hard.
