Default 2004 Freestar key

Just bought a used 2004 Freestar. It only came with one key. Also didn't come with a FOB. I had a FOB laying around from a Ranger I previously had. Programmed it and it works well. Can anyone tell me what a dealer would charge for an extra one or two keys with programming? I see keys on Ebay for about $15.00 for two, but I'm afraid that a dealer might not program them since I didn't purchase them there. Thanks.

Some locksmiths have the equip to do this. Search around, their charges are usually lower.

What a bunch of BS!! I stopped at a local Ford dealership today to get pricing. They want $25.00 for each key and $100.00 for programming. TOTALLY RIDICULOUS!!

Hanky is correct,,

Check into your local LS, some are able to program and in most cases it's a tad cheaper.. Also,, when you get your new key/s, you can program extra's from your own vehicle so you don't have to pony up again should one get lost..

I'm glad somebody's "awake at the switch", thanks Hayapower.
Coded keys can, and do, go bad and that extra key or two can save the day.
You know how that story goes,,,,,,,,, if you did not have the extra coded keys you would need them. If you have one or two extra keys you may not need one of them.
It's not uncommon for a coded key to allow the ign to be turned on and still not satisfy the code requirement for the passive anti-theft system and now the vehicle won't start. This is cheap insurance since you can code the addl keys yourself.
