Question Cruise Control only works sometimes?

My 2004 Freestar has an issue with the cruise control. I can get up to the correct speed then turn on the cruise control, but the cruise light only blinks quickly and goes off. I can repeatedly press the button and the light just goes on and off with each push of the button. Once in a blue moon.., it works as it should, but not very often.
Appreciate any ideas or solutions..,

Do you have any othr issues with the vehicle? Such as the TRACION CONTROL automatically being disabled by the computer? You could have a faulty BRAKE PRESSURE SWITCH. This will case the Cruise Control not to set properly. I had a TRAC COTROL issue with my 04 Freestar. Any time the TRAC CONTROL light would come on and the information system would tell me to CHECK TRAC CONTROL", the cruise control would do exactly what you are describing. The BRAKE PRESSURE SWICH is a cheap and easy fix. The switch screw into the front of the brake matser cylinder.

Exclamation no issues with traction control

I dont have an indicator light coming on, but a service engine light is on due to a bad plug. would a bad pressure switch cause noises in the brakes when they are catching? like when you close your hand tightly(wearing a leather glove), its makes sounds like that sometimes.

Nope, but that noise is actually the brake caliper cup rubbing on the brake pad backing plate. I put ceramic brake grease around the cup when I service my brakes every spring and fall. The noise isn't causing any braking issues, but is just an irritating noise.

Cruise control and traction control need the proper signals from the wheel speed sensors. I would clean the sensors and the signal wheels (is that the correct term?) on every wheel of the vehicle.
