engine tick after oil change / low coolant
Ford Freestar 2004, 3.9 L
I changed the oil (5w-20) and filter, soon after I started hearing a ticking noise when starting this car.
The noise goes away (or gets quieter) after the car has time to warm up.
I also noticed the coolant level was low. I topped the coolant off, but this did not stop the noise.
The noise seems to be coming from the top of the engine, not a belt.
Any Ideas?

If you can get a piece of garden hose or even smaller, place one end of the hose close to your ear and search around the engine to see where the noise seems loudest.
That may help pinpoint the approx area to check further.
Among the things it could be might be an exhaust leak at the exhaust manifold. These will usually go away as the engine warms up. The hose trick will assist proving that out.
Let us know what you find.
