Ford freesrar ignition cylinder help
Lost my keys to my freestar so instead of getting a new key made I decided to buy another ignition cylinder with 2 programmed keys. while doing the change I broke the anti theft transceiver and ruined the old cylinder, now the car wont start but the question i have is if i get a new key with the chip and have it shaved the same as the new keys and cylinder would the car turn on? or i'm i screwed and need to buy a new ecu, cylinder and keys off another car? thanks
Welcome to the site..
The PATS antenna/reader would need to be replaced,
You should be able to get a 'key-able' ignition switch (changeable pins/bars) from Ford and build it as the OE if you want to stay with alike keys. Or a replacement lock set.. Without the 2 old PATS/chipped programmed keys, it will have to go to Ford or a lock smith that can program them to the system.
The keys don't come programmed..
