Default Rear coil springs 04 Freestar

How come I can't find any after market coils springs for a 2004 freestar limited? Only place I can find them is at the dealership.

By the time you find someplace else to get them, it might cost more than if purchased from a dealer.
And they should be the correct ones.

173.00 each from the dealer. I think thats way over priced for just a rear coil spring. I'm changing the front struts and springs today and I only paid 158.00 for two complete strut assemblies.

If you want to upgrade your rear springs for a slight lift and a little more weight capacity, then I would go this way (From my Freestar library)

FREESTAR Rear Spring Upgrade

The following coil springs will fit the rear coil spring brackets on the
Ford Freestar/Mercury Monterey for upgrading the weight capacity.

1990-1996 Bronco (Front Coils)
1975-1991 E-150 (Front Coils)
1980-1996 F-100/150 (Front Coils)

MOOG part number CC820
AC DELCO part number 45H1024
ROCKWELL part number RV820

All are sold in sets and probably range from about $75-100 per set.

I opted to buy and install aftermarket coil airbags that fit inside the coils and are adjustable via air pressure. I got them off e-bay for about $75 and they have been working well for the last 4 years. When I have the trailer on I pump them up to 30 lbs and the van stays level and reduce the pressure to 5-10 lbs when the van is empty. A simple option if you don't want to go with OEM springs. Additionally, you could try RockAuto.com as they tend to have OEM and aftermarket options to cover the price points.

I have also been curious about this exact topic. I soon plan on installing a receiver on my 05 Limited, id say look on ebay, amazon, even walmart online. I have looked it up and they have them, check it out.

well, its not 2016 anymore and were in 2025, 9 years later these are nowhere to be found, i custom ordered my springs from a sping company, came out to about $580 with installation, $480 for the coils, but, i tell you this, no more jumping around and the van rides great, no more bottoming out, i can load it and it goes down to original height, its about 3 to 4 inches higher when empty, otherwise good

coilsprings.com ask for Kevin

2005 Mercury Monterey
Rear - +2.00" Trim Height - constant +1000# Cargo - non constant
Pricing; $ 428.20 pair
Shipping cost; $ 52.60
Total Cost : $ 480.80
Refer to Quote# 43627 when addressing this vehicle.
this was just done in april of 2025, so this is very up to date information, hope this helps
