Default water leak

MY 2005 Freestyle has water leaking onto the floor of the passenger side front and rear carpet. The car is off of warranty and I would like to repair it myself but I can't find the leak. Anyone had this problem? Any suggestions on how to find the leak?

Default gear shifter problem

MY 05 freestyle gear shift sometimes can not be moved out of park. I have to remove the console and and press a button inside to release it. I have tried lubing everything that moves but it still does it. Does anyone have a fix for this?

The shifter problem is probably the shift interlock which is part of the shifter assembly. I would check fuses and make sure my brake lites work, as it is tied into that system. As for the water leak into both front and rear of the vehicle, I would check under the carpet and padding on the passenger side toe board, where the washer line for the rear enters the passenger compartment, the boot may be out of place.

Do you have a sunroof? A plugged or crimped drain line is often the source of such a leak.
