Bought a used ford fusion 2 weeks ago. Tuxedo black SE 2.5 auto. LOVE it!

However it makes some weird noises sometimes that are nerve wrecking. It doesn't do it ALL the time but every 3rd or 4th drive it makes these clunking and grinding noises. Sometimes I think it's the brakes but sometimes when driving a straight line at 35mph or so I will hear the noises. I did some research on the advancetrac system and the owners manual says some grinding noises are normal when it runs its tests??


I pulled the wheels and the brakes and linkages all look fine to me. Can't find anything to be worn...no warning lights on dash.


So is this normal and something I just need to get used to? My previous vehicle was a Cadillac Deville so I'm used to a smooth, quiet, floating ride. I'm not used to these new fangled systems and the weird noises they make.
