Default 2014 Fusion loses power on acceleration with AC on

I have a 2014 fusion se eco boost 1.5l. For the last year or so, the power has been decreased when taking off (getting on the freeway or taking off at a light) when the ac is on. Recently on a trip from Utah to California, the car started over heating while going up hills. Power was reduced and ac turned off. The car normally does not over heat, but we had a lot of luggage and an extra person than usual. Other than the over heating warning light, no other lights came on. A friend mentioned maybe the serpentine belt needed to be replaced, but it looks good, no chunks missing, grooves still deep, etc. If anybody has an idea of what could be wrong, please let me know. I cannot afford to take it to the shop right now, but I also don't want to get stuck on the side of the road.

From what I believe you are trying to tell us , it sounds like there is more than one problem.
How many miles on the odometer?
When and what kind of maintenance was recently , last 6 months, done? These little bits of info are necessary to hopefully come to some conclusion as to what might be or might not be happening..Maybe we can offer some helpful suggestions that might save you some $$$. , thanks.

There are 147k miles. We have the oil changed about every 3-4 months with an inspection at the local Ford dealership. They have never said anything looked wrong. Other than that, no maintenance has been done since we bought it 2 years ago. No warning lights have come on and the fluids are topped off at ever oil change. Thank you!

Would you know if the spark plugs , fuel and air filters have ever been changed? These are routine maintenance items and should be replaced per the recommended maintenance schedule. They can have a pretty big effect if allowed to be ignored.

With that mileage if the water pump has never been changed , it could be coming up to that .
It is a small engine and it had it's work cut out for it with the load and terrain. Some models will cut off the AC if the load or engine temp goes over a certain point.

The air filter is fairly new, and still clean. We have not had the fuel filter or spark plugs changed since we've owned it. I'm not sure if they were changed before we bought it. I will try the spark plugs next weekend and see if there is a change. How do you tell if the water pump is going out?

If you are going to change the spark plugs , make sure you set the gap on the replacement plugs to the gap specified by the manufacturer.
It might be a good idea to do all the other maintenance and see how the temp works before jumping into the water pump change. If you take it to the dealer, explain what happened and ask them to check it.
