Default Cooling System Pressure Test Question (2014 1.5L Ecoboost)

I'd like to pressure test the cooling system on my 2014 Fusion but I have been unsuccessful in finding the correct test kit / adapter. My Mityvac kit doesn't have the needed adapter. Tried a Pittsburgh kit which has an adapter that fits, but doesn't seal what looks to be an over-pressure vent hole at the base of the cap hole in the degas bottle... bottle and system won't maintain pressure with that adapter.

Has anyone here done that test on one of these and if so, what kit or adapter did you use?

Thanks,
Jim

"STANT" makes a good kit and you may need to go to a place like NAPA to purchase it..

Thanks. I like Stant. And I like NAPA. But I'm trying to avoid spending a couple hundred dollars or more on a maybe and checking on-line I don't find kit manufacturers typically say what vehicles the adapters fit. Makes yes, models no. It would really help me out if someone can reference a particular kit and or adapter part numbers that they've used and found it works. Thanks.

I don't know if you can find that info, but ,,,,,,,,I'm sure if you are contemplating purchasing the kit they should at least allow you to try one of the rubber adapters in the kit on your vehicle before purchasing it. Pretty sure they would not want to sell you the entire kit that you cannot use.
You don't have to try anything except check if the adapter fits the throat of your radiator.

Thanks for the suggestion. Probably need to test it rather than just see if it fits as it needs to be deep enough to cover the pressure relief hole.

I found a couple loaner kits at autozone that include the adapter that fits.

We see what we want to see and it didn't register that a pressure reading was attempted at the degas bottle.

The kits and adapters are to pressurize the radiator and not the degas bottle because the degas bottle is vented to the atmosphere whereas the rest of the cooling system is pressure controlled by the radiator cap. I believe you are testing pressure in the wrong place.

No, on the Fusion, the degas bottle serves as the location for the service fill.
