Unhappy Install 2010 Ford Fusion SYNC Module

Hello,

One day after getting my 2010 Ford Fusion inspected, I realized that my Bluetooth & AUX inputs no longer worked (along with all other SYNC features). I took the car to a Ford dealership and they ran diagnostics. The test came back and said the issue was the APIM. They wanted to charge a ridiculous amount to have that APIM replaced so I decided to do it myself. I found an APIM on eBay with matching part numbers from a reputable dealer. I removed the old APIM (located under the center console) and I installed the new one. However, I am experiencing the same issues. Does anyone know if there is something I need to do to active/initialize the APIM before/after installing? Also, would it be possible to re-program/initialize my original APIM so I could return this one from eBay?

Thanks!

The APIM is programmed with your VIN specific ‘as built’ data. Ford or some independent shops can program replacement module, if that is the issue..

Some places will not allow electrical/electronic parts to be returned. One of the reasons could be if the part was damaged by "Field Testing" now the next person to buy it buys a damaged part and thinks it is good.

A dealer or possible independent shop will need to program your new APIM, I do not know if indie shops can do this since it is different from a normal module programming and you have to use the ford dealer website. At my dealer we charge 1.0 hour to program/update sync. Please note that if it doesnt work the dealer would most likely tell you tough luck since you installed a used APIM and they do not know if it is the exact correct one for your vehicle, dont understand why but same year model can have different APIM numbers depending on trim level.
