Default Transmission Ford Fusion SE 2018 1.5L

So driving in highway traffic in and out of traffic houston tx i45 and i broke and accelerated cause you know traffic. The transmission kicked/skipped or what ever. Wife said it happened to her once yesterday. Its got 51k got it with 23k a year ago, any advice or what it could be? How can i fix it or something, i plan to have it till i finish paying it. Its been a great car and im not a big fan of ford except for the powerstrokes.

I would check for codes first.

Did you ever have the trans serviced?

Fluid and filter changing is not going to help their symptom considering the vehicle only has 51k miles. There's something else going on. The engine may be possibly exhibiting an issue. A more in depth diagnosis is needed to track this intermittent problem down.

Expecting a fluid and filter change to correct possible internal trans problems is somewhat short sighted.

On some trans there is no way to check the level other than on a lift or having the vehicle up in the air.
What we do look for are traces of excess material in the pan ,or even parts in the pan. We don't know some things until we look.
If and when a valve in the valve body sticks/hangs up a malfunction is assured.

If that excess foreign material does get into the valve body , it can cause problems and is important to prevent problems up the road.

If there is a lot of debris in the pan or filter, plan on an overhaul. There shouldn't be much debris after only 51k miles.

Why do you suppose Ford recommends changing the trans fluid every 30,000 miles on the 2018 Ford Fusion ?

30K would apply if the vehicle is used under severe driving conditions, otherwise 150k under normal driving conditions. I don't agree with 150k but that's what is in the manual.
