89 ranger wont start. help!!!!
I did a motor swap in a 89 ford ranger 2.9. I put in a 86 2.9 and heard both run befor the swap. compleated the swap and it wont start. It turns over but it dosnt sound like it even wants to run. I have spark and I have fuel to the injector rail with pressure. fuel pump seams to be working. This was going well with only a little differance in the motors. one was the oil sensor was differ and the the intake tower had an extra part (w elec plug that the 89 doesnt)connected to the throttle cable housing on the tower. I took that off and put the two bolt cover that was on the 89 tower. I also checked the the fuel shut off switch inside the truck and it wasnt tripped. anyone have a suggestion? This is a truck for my 16 year old and he is chomping at the bit as this is our first motor swap.
Thanks Lenny

Hi Lenny i don't know if this will help you at all, but my 83 ranger was doing kind of the same thing. When i investigated i found 2 wires coming from my steering column to my brian box were split and grounding out. So i cut them out and replaced them with new wire and the truck fired right up.
