91 ranger makes hissing noise then dies
My 91 ranger made a hissing noise like air being pushed out of a tire and then there was a smell folloeed by it dying.
when i drove it later, my belt was sqealing followed by the smell and something rattling from underneathe (seemed to be in between front tires a little behind them in the center). Followed by it not wanting to shift, then there was a clunk noise, air hissing, and then it died.
seems to do it when it warms up a lot, but temp gauge is fine, coolant levels are good. It does have a coolant leak somewhere, but i dont think its overheating.
Any ideas on what it could be? Want to try to figure it out on my own before taking it to a shop.
thank you
