Default 94 Ranger 4.0 voltage gauge in and out

Hello, my 94 Ranger with 4.0 engine is skipping and lacking power until it gets warmed up. It was lacking power this morning and all of a sudden, it got a burst of energy and got power back. Then it started bucking again and pulled off the road, it was idling fine but would not rev up when I press the gas pedal. I shut it off for a minute or two and restarted and drove off. It did this two or three times before I got it back home. I did replace the battery because advance auto check showed that it needed replaced. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you, Randy

Have you had the alternator checked?

No I have not had it checked but I can get it checked out. Cleaned MAF sensor which had it running better for a day or so but it is back to bogging.

So, the problem is a lack of power? In other words, the engine can't make enough power to move it, or is it stalling and not restarting.
If it's a driveability concern, you could possibly have an autozone like entity scan the codes; I'm sure it will have some, and this could possilby give us a better direction.
One other thing: this is EEC-IV, which was an older fuel injection system. You might have to call around to see who could do it; most everything made since 1996 is the newer fuel injection, and is slightly easier to test.

Thank you for the help, alternator and battery is fine. I did replace tps and it appeared to fix it. I guess the voltage gauge has a short in it, it's charging fine. Thank you all again.

cats clogged? remove the pre cat 02 sensors and drive it. if the power returns; that's the problem.
just re-read your first post. if it goes away when warm, its not cats.
