Default 97 key sluggish

I've got a 97 Ranger and the key won't' click through the positions easily as it should. When I turn the key it feels like one sluggish/sticky turn. I've replaced the key tumbler with a new one but it's still the same. Any ideas??

So you already replaced the cylinder, that's usually what causes the keys to feel weird. How worn is your key? After the edges get rounded sometimes it doesn't move quite right, you could always spray some DRY graphite powder into the cylinder to make sure its lubed up, you can buy that from autozone.

There is usually a rack with attached rod that activates the ign sw further down on the steering column. If you remove the covering on the upper section of the column you might be able to see what is causing the bind..
