Default CLUTCH IS LOOSE
i HAVE A 4 CYL 2001 RANGER 2.3L. It is manual transmission. It is hard to get it into 1st gear. But my clutch never grinds or slips. I noticed my clutch pedal is loose. Like i can press on it like half way and there is no force behind it. Is there a way i can tighten the clutch?

Check the fluid in the clutch reservoir to see if it is low. Also look for any leaks of fluid around the bell housing. You may have air in the system.
