Fuel Filter-change
I've read posts on peoples’ biggest problem were getting off the filter. However, my biggest problem was that I don't want fuel spilling to occur. In the Chilton manual it explains to take the gas tank cap off and disconnect the vacuum hose from the pressure regulator, then take a hand vacuum pump and apply pressure to the pressure regulator. Keep truck tilted so engine is at same level if not higher than rear to keep from fuel siphoning occurring. Is that really everything you must do? Can't I just press the button on the inertia switch and crank the engine until it runs out of fuel and dies?
The button on the inertia switch just resets the switch in the event that it trips. Just unplug one of the leads to the inertia switch and start the motor. Let it run to a stall. At this point, the only fuel that will come out when the filter is changed is the fuel in the filter and line but it won't be very much and not under pressure.
