Default Girl needs help with 98 Ranger PLEASE!

I have a 1998 Ford Ranger (4x4) the gas gage and temperature gage are not working. I did purchase a new "cluster" and installed it however the fuel just went way past the "F" mark and I know the tank isn't full and now the speedometer, odometer, and mileage isn't working, nor is my inside right blinker (could just be a bulb)... I have thought about just going back and reinstalling the old cluster since the one I got don't seem to work right either but that still isn't solving my issue of the gas & temp gages not working. (already checked the tank float... seems to be fine)... is there by any chance a fuse that I could possibly check?... any suggestions would be great. thanks!

Vehicle electronics do funny things. Normally a fuse "should" not cause this , but to touch all the bases , check the fuses and at least you will know that part is not the problem.
The vehicle's PCM (computer) sometimes needs to be cleared of a fault that was registered when a defective part is replaced. This can be accomplised by removing the negative battery cable from the battery post and holding the loose end in contact with the positive cable end still on the battery . Allow like 10-15 minutes for the PCM to lose the adaptive memory while the cable ends are in contact with one another.
