Default High Pitched Buzz Accelerating

I have a 99 XLT 4x2. I am getting a fast high pitched buzz from the engine at the top of my acceleration before I shift gears. This is a manual. Anyone had this problem and know what it is?

Could it be coming through the speakers? That usually is the case. The alternator puts out a frequency that the stereo will pick up.

no. I know its coming from the engine. possibly near the bottom. its not from the speakers. does a timing belt make a noise before it goes or if it over-revs?
