Default question on flushing tranny fluid.

Hi everyone,

I am new to this forum and have the very first questions on flushing transmission fluid and power steering fluid. Hope someone can help.

I have done tranny fluid flush on several cars, some car manufactures recommend to replace tranny filter, some recommend don't such as new Toyota.

1- My first question is if I should replace my tranny filter on my 2005 Ford Ranger Edge?

2- Another question I have is proximately how many quarts do I need to get for this task?

3- Viewing multiple youtube video clips (for Ford but not 2005 Ranger), I found multiple suggestions on what type of fluid should be used. I visit the dealer and autozone. They both said Mercon V for both tranny and power steering fluid. Is it correct?

Does anyone know a good video clip on tranny fluid flush I can see?

Thank you in advance.

If you Google Ford owners manuals for your particular vehicle I believe it listed
Mercon V for the trans and just mercon for the P/S system. You might want to double check that and keep it for handy reference.
