Default 2000 sport trac engine and transmission removal

I am rebuilding a 2003sport trac using parts from a 2000model and I was wondering if it is possible to remove the engine and transmission without disconnecting them from one another? Thanks in advance for any advice you can offer!

I have never done it and therefore don't know.
What I can bring your attention to is, the PCMs are most likely different, and since manufacturers change specs from year to year and even mid year.
Might be a good idea to check with a Ford Parts Dept and see which parts were used in both years. Maybe someone that has done the switch and was successful might be able to shed more light on your questions. Mechanically the parts might work, but as far as the electrical/electronic operating paameters being identical, I don't know.

Thank you for your response, and I have considered that, but I don't think it will be much of an issue since the 2003 I'm rebuilding is only contributing the body and framework...all mechanical and electrical components are being brought over from the 2000 model... The only thing I anticipate any trouble with is the antitheft system and since I don't have keys for either of them ...I would have that issue regardless...I'll have to bite the bullet and pay ford to make a new key. I figure I cant complain too much since I've only spent 650 dollars on this project so far and 150 of that was towing fees lol. Anyways...after a bit more research I feel confident that I can pull them together. I just finished marking all the wires and hoses and removing peripherals... Plan to finish preparations tomorrow and hopefully get started with the removal....I'm exited to say the least...I love working on cars and I've done quite a bit...but this is by far the biggest challenge I've ever taken on... hopefully it pays off in the end....
