Default 2004 sport trac xlt 2wd transmission dip stick tube replacement

My dipstick tube got cut when someone was stealing the catalytic converters off of this vehicle. It’s not cut all the way in two but it has a slot cut in it and I can’t tell it was leaking, but I guess I need to replace it. Anyone have a R&R procedure for this. Is it possible to use a piece of metal and a hose clamp to seal the cut.

Depending on where the cut is located, you might be able to use a hose clamp with a piece of hose that will hold up to oil based fluid..

It is cut about a foot above the transmission pan directly behind the exhaust manifold flange where the catalytic converter would be. It may get too hot there for rubber hose but maybe metal or some type of sealer might do it.

What if you took some aluminum sandwich wrap and clamped that to the tube?
