2000 taurus starting problem
ok here's the new deal. changed plugs and wires. disconnected the battery to clear the code. engine light now off. still have to press the accelerator to start, when it starts i get a strong gas odor briefly than it goes away. after its been running if i shut it off it starts back up perfectly.
It could be possible the Idle air Control valve isn't working correctly. That and a fuel system pressure check would be among my suggestions. Unfortunately without the proper equipment to check either of those it adds up to change the IAC and see if that corrects the problem.
Unless someone comes up with a more definite answer, let us know how you made out. Thanks
