Default Thanks

This happened to me while servicing a customer's vehicle. At first I thought it was the suspicious looking upper intake manifold gaskets because those look like they need replacement but as I'm chasing after a p0175 problem, I had to remove that manifold and after visually checking to see if injectors were leaking while fuel pump pressurized the rail, I put it all back together.

The thing ran horribly. I was in one of those "god what now?"

Then I ran into this article and it made me do a bit more detailed investigation towards the back of the engine and my hand ran across a vacuum line that didn't seem all too obvious. Luckily I was alert and my fingers felt what was a slice or cut in a hose after having felt back there several times.

The one that seemed a bit obscure was a line running from the engine (I don't think it actually connects to the manifold) to the back of the firewall on the passenger side that went to a green plastic connector.

All I know is after removing the end from the engine, the other end I couldn't right away figure out how to remove either the hose or the connector because it felt like the hose attached on to a plastic end that was ****** so it hooked on to the hose real good.

It finally came off that plastic connector. You can twist it that connector and it looks like after you figure out how to release whatever locks that thing in the it should pull straight off but I didn't want to mess with it.

All I know is that hose stained my fingers black, as if it had deteriorated so bad that the rubber became like charcoal paint.

I'm not even sure what it's called or what it eventually is for but since I'm in a jam and I need to resolve the original problem as to why I'm working on it in the place, I plan on using electrical tape to wrap that sucker up like a cast on an arm.

It should be sufficient to stop any air/vacuum leak

Need to know the engine , so we can identify which bank has the problem etc. .

I find this post a little strange because if you are a service facility you should know we need to know this.
