Default run wire from dash through firewall

I need to install front camera in my 2011 Taurus sho.

Request advice and diagrams if possible to run a wire through the firewall

I would like to place the small monitor on the dash near the speaker cluster.

Thanks,
Ken (newbie)

Today's cars don't like when things are added on to the system. I would suggest that you run a fused wire direct from the battery with a switch that allows you to turn the camera on or off as you choose. That would prevent you from affecting/ interfering with the minute voltage signals that are constantly going through the vehicle. If you decide to do that , it is wise to place the fuse as close to the battery connection as reasonably possible. That way if for any reason the wire was pinched or damaged by something the fuse would blow before the wire became overheated by a possible short circuit to any ground.

Depending on where you plan to mount the control will determine the best place to insert a wire. Just make sure it has plenty of protection so nothing can cut through the insulation. Sometimes you can manage to snake a wire through an opening that already has wires going through it.

Thanks for your continued aid.
Would like to mount the small monitor mid dash over part of the speaker cluster. I`m more concerned about visual access than sound sorry to say. Look forward to your reply. Cheers, Ken

You need to mount the camera where it is best for you and doesn't do too much damage to the dash. Depending on where you best would like the switch to control it, would determine the better location to bring the wire through the firewall into the vehicle. It's not a difficult job, but some planning usually avoids unexpected results. You can do it !!

Thanks for the encouragement. The camera will be inserted in the front grill & the switched monitor will be on the upper mid dash on the centre speaker cluster. I don`t mind drilling a hole and resealing round the wire. Cheers. Ken
