I busted the pneumatic lift on my trunk and got a new one from the dealer. I can't push the rod into the cylinder far enough to get both ends of the lift attached ( one end to the body and one to the trunk). any suggestions on getting enough pressure to compress the lift...

 

Attach it to the trunk first and push up as far as it will go. The trunk will give just enough to attach the other end to the body.
