Default 3.8 stalling

I have a 1995 ford thunderbird 3.8 that will run for a while then stop running but will start back up few hours later.Would it be the fuel pump there is no check light on either. Or something more?

Thanks

This should help narrow it down some, check if you have spark when it shuts down. You might also try spraying carb and choke cleaner( it is the closest to gasoline) into the intake and see if it attempts to run. One or the other should help provide some direction.

Had to have it towed it stoped while driving . So Saturday it started back up let it run till it stopped . Put a spark test on one of the plugs that was easy to get to and no spark. So it looks like it's not the pump now. Any where to start at ?

Thanks

I believe the 95 T Bird with 3.8 engine has the OBDI ign syst.
You might check for the ign coil opening up when it gets hot.
If that is OK then confirm you are getting a pulse from the pick up coil in the dist.
If that checks out go after the ign module.

OBDI was kinda limited as to providing info to a scanner. You will most likely need to do the checks with a multimeter.

Those condensers were mainly to protect the ign switch contacts from excessive arcing.

It's still a good car. Small problems like this are not really a problem, just takes a little troubleshooting to locate and correct the problem. The OBDI system was pretty nice because it automatically ran dynamic tests and produced a code for you if there was any problem. You could run the checks with a cheap tool under 25 bucks from Thexton inc.
