Default 64 T-Bird Electrical Problems Please Help

Hey hows it going?
I had a question for you guys i was searching and, havent found any good info yet. I was trying to help my step-dad out with his 64 T-Bird and, i am very new to working on older cars because i usually only work on hondas and nissans. The problem that he is having is His brake lights dont work i think its the switch because that makes sense but i am not sure? The other problem is when the headlights are on The dash gauges light up and than go off and, the amp gauge moves back and forth? so if you have any idea what it could be or could point me in the right direction i would appreciate it alot thanx alot peace

Check the brake switch and bulbs and maybe bleed the brakes. If you put an alternator in a car that came with a generator electrical problems will happen.
