Default Carb Question

I have a 1968 390 FE truck motor with a Ford intake # D5TE9425MB. My carb is an Autolite # C7AF AH. Can these be combined with the proper spacer, and which spacer do I use. The motor had a two bbl. intake originally, but I wanted to go to a 4bbl. I plan on putting it in a 66 T'bird.

That manifold should have an EGR passage between the carb mounting studs on the right side.. If so, you'd have to make sure the aftermarket spacer plate would contour and cap the EGR passage, or, 'plug and surface' the EGR passage and use a straight 4 hole plate spacer.. The plate thickness would have been about 1" ..

Thanks;
Do you recommend welding? This manifold seems cast. I'm wondering if a tight fit plug and some JBweld would hold up to manifold vacuum. Am I better off trying to find a different manifold?

No welding needed..

It is cast iron..

If you clean the EGR passage out you can just press a solid steel plug into the passage level with the deck or just slightly above ,and then finish it to the carb/deck height.. Or you could thread and plug the hole.. That passage is exhaust feed, so it won't be a vacuum issue, although you want a decent press fit.. If you have any problems with that manifild I have the exact manifold here from days gone by.. FREE.. if you pay the shipping cost

wow. A '68 motor with a '75 intake and a '67 carb. in a '66 car. That about takes the cake. Welding cast is a bit of he**. It can be done if you're decent at welding and have a MIG welder that's any good, but I'd sure stick to the JB idea - carefully rough some edges in for the JB plug to grip (dremel tool) and it should hold up better.
