Default 02 Mustang key won’t turn

I have a 2002 Mustang that has been setting for a few months and now when I try to start the key will not turn, it goes in fine but will not move. I have tried turnig wheel to stops both direction and that did not help!

If you have another key , you might give that one a try. If you don't and only have one key you now have a can of worms in your hand and if you don't find some way to get another key made and coded , if necessary,,,,, that can of worms will open on you and , let's hope we don't have to go there.

I have two keys neither one works I believe it has more to do with the lock mechanism

Especially if you live in an environment that has extreme hot/cold temperatures, the grease in the lock cylinder eventually stops working well and the pins dont return as they should. Replacing the cylinder is the best way to fix it and is relatively inexpensive. Jimmying the key while its in the cylinder might help a stuck pin return. There is also the possibility that someone tried to steal the car and messed the internals up with a screwdriver or something.
