I had to replace the ignition and in the process the thin wires to the pats ring broke. Part number is f6df-15607-ba $350 at dealer. I went to junk yard and pulled one out of a 97 that is the same but part number is f6df-15607-aa. I still can not get it to start. Will the 97 part not work in 98 even though it looks like same part but last of part number different?

 

I don't know the exact answer, but you could always check with any Ford parts dept and they should be able to tell you. What may possibly have happened is there could be a blown fuse for that system and it would be a good idea to check them all.
