Default 1999 Explorer Problems HELP!

I have a 99 Exp. and the fuel pump has been replaced 2 times in the last 3 years. Now, my engine will run fine for a while then it will stall out like it is not getting fuel. It has trouble starting right after that. If it sits for a while, it will start and run fine. I had it looked at and the mechanic could not identify the problem. He thought maybe they put in the wrong fuel pump. I did replace the filter and that did not help. Any other thoughts or remedies. It is getting expensive and I am not getting anywhere. thanks in advance. rob

Robris, Not sure if it helps, but a number of years ago I had a similar problem on my '91 explorer that was difficult to diagnose. Don't remember the specifics, but turned out that that there was a heat related fault in the electrical system that once hot, prevented the fuel pump from getting enough electricty to run properly. As i recall, they replaced a wire or wiring harness and I was good to go.
