Default Charging System Problem.

So I just traded for a 77 F250 Camper Special with the 460 in it. And the charging system seems to not work at all. The battery has 11volts then drops to 7 volts when it tries starting. I'm thinking bad cell in the battery and possibly bad alternator. Anyone else know what could be wrong? I need to fix it asap since right now it's my only vehicle.

The alt can't put out anything much if the battery does not have enough to help it get going. If possible try to charge the battery or give it a jump start. If the battery is defective it can't hold a charge. Once you get it started if the alt is putting out anything it would normally recharge the low battery. If you can't jump start it or charge the battery you have little choice except to replace it. Make sure the connections at the battery are clean and tight.

We jumped it and it will run for about 10 minutes before lights go dim and it dies. I got a new alternator and I got a charger on the battery. If it doesn't start after having a charged battery then I'll be getting a new battery and keeping the new alternator.
