Angry EPAS not working

I have a 2010 Mercury Milan with the Electronic Power Assist Steering (EPAS) system.
I went to the store and the car was working fine. When I came out of the store my power steering had failed (I had a "Steering assist failure" and "Service advancetrac" codes pop up on the dash)
I did a little bit of research and all that showed up was recall info. If anyone else has had this issue or fixed this issue please let me know

I checked the F1 and F2 fuses under the hood and they were both fine.

If you have any questions feel free to ask. I'll be active here until I figure something out

There are simple tests to perform, but the special info is required to perform them. Since it is a safety concern, best to have a qualified shop checkout the system.
